300% funded, 5 stretch goals, and a book update!

Hey everybody, what a ride it’s been! This past week has been a whirlwind of action for us, with a convention, interviews, actual plays, and a whole heap of wonderful people excited to discover the game!

We’re now at the half way point with 11 days left, so if you haven’t yet checked out the campaign, swing by and see why nearly 300 people have pledged!

Here in the UK we attended Airecon where we fought the White Fist with the demo version of our Core Book, an expansive version of the game where people not only build the Situations they discover with expanding prompts, but get to take on the things they face with six varieties of Approaches, letting them choose the methods by which they change the world around them.

The results were incredible, with all manner of scenarios unfolding we never expected, from Crews brokering the freedom of slaves only to lead them in rebellion against their old masters, learning about the symbiotic relationship a group had made with a wandering herd of elephants, to ending the assaults of a raider base by collapsing the bridge their base was on!

So, since this amazing weekend we’ve had support pouring in, powering our way through 4 different stretch goals where our incredible guest-writers will be producing a variety of unique one-shot scenarios! Honestly I’m particularly pleased about this because their teasers make ME want to play them!

The Book Gets an Update! Okay, last of all, we are releasing a proper book update here to 1.3! This version is much, much closer to what you can expect of the final product, with improved narrative sections at the beginning, streamlined combat and general refinement of the Actions and Effects, along with improved clarity of the wording of several scenarios. But don’t take my word for it, go see for yourself! It’s still free!

Last of all, I want to share a quote from Jess from NotDnD Podcast. I had an interview with Jess recently where we spoke about the game, my inspirations and hopes for it, along with unpacking some of the core parts of what makes Why We Fight special. If you want to listen yourself, check it out here!

After she mentioned she’d looked through the game, we asked her what she thought, and here’s what she said:

We were blown away by such kind words, and especially from someone who’s been reporting on all manner of indie titles through the years. We’re committed to building a wonderful community of people who are excited to play games like Why We Fight, so if you want to share your thoughts, please drop us a message or comment!

We’ll update again just before the campaign finishes to give anyone dithering a chance to back, but otherwise, keep building, ecopunks!
